We finished fourth place at the Olympic Test Event in Marseille - merely two points off the podium! This regatta was a dress rehearsal for the Games exactly one year in advance, at the Olympic venue, on the Olympic racecourses. We kicked off the racing season in the Canary Islands with a podium finish and a medal race win at the Lanzarote International Regatta. Most of the 49erFX international fleet was racing and training in Lanzarote for the winter, so it was a great preview of the regattas ahead.

We are proud to report our fifth-place finish at the 49erFX World Championship earlier this month. The six-day, 17-race regatta had a variety of conditions from windy & choppy, shifty & light offshore, and steady sea breeze.

We started the week off with three double-digit scores, ultimately putting us in 22nd overall after the first day of racing -- definitely not how we expected to open up the World Championship!

A lot has happened since we last wrote to you when we were second overall at the French Olympic Week in early May. We visited the White House with the US Olympic Team, experienced a minor setback to our campaign, and had a very successful fundraiser in Newport. Now we're back on the road again.

After six days and 16 races, we finished fifth in the medal race and stood in second place on the podium! The 38-boat fleet sailed in a wide range of conditions - a nice change from Palma's week of gnar. Having finished only one race outside of the top ten throughout the 15-race series, we entered the medal race in third place overall. We sat two points behind the Swedes, and seven points in front of the Norwegians.

After 13 races over five gnarly and wavy sailing days, we ended the regatta in ninth overall out of a 54-boat fleet. We went into this regatta without a specific performance expectation, so we are very pleased to walk away in the top ten. We also rallied after some unforced errors, including two UFD penalties (for being over the starting line early) and one capsize in the second race. Full Results | Tracking

We just wrapped up five weeks of training in beautiful Miami, which offered up its usual epic conditions! Our Argentian friends joined us for two weeks to tune-up before we headed overseas. After a recent surgery, Maggie has now passed three months post-op and is crushing recovery.

Representing Team USA and all of you at our first Olympic Games was incredible. This opportunity would not have been possible without the amazing support we received from all of you over the last five years. We also truly felt all of your positive vibes over in Japan and are forever grateful.
